OKLAHOMA CITY (October 10, 2011) - The 2011 Devon Energy Holiday River Parade will award over $5,000 in cash prizes this year to attract entries and reward participation in this year’s parade. Awards and cash prizes will be presented in three categories, as well as for the Mayor’s Award, Grand Marshal’s Award and the Parade Chairman’s Award. There are no entries fees to enter the parade. The parade takes place Friday, November 25 at 6pm on the Oklahoma River.

“We hope to attract more businesses, organizations and individual to enter the parade with the addition of the cash prizes. We realize that our participants invest in decorations every year to be part of the parade of boats. This is just one way we can thank them for participating and making the investment to support this free family holiday event,” said parade chairman, Mike McAuliffe.

An informational meeting for parade entries and a tour of the new Chesapeake Tower will take place on Tuesday, November 1 at 4pm.

Parade participants will have access to the Centennial Building at the fairgrounds to decorate their boats. The Centennial Building is available from Friday, November 18 to Friday, November 25.

Net proceeds from the Devon Energy Holiday River Parade will benefit the Oklahoma River Foundation. The foundation was established in 2004 and is managed by the Oklahoma City Community Foundation. The past six Holiday River Parades have generated over $600,000 for the Oklahoma River Foundation for future improvements to the Oklahoma River and the 14-mile trail system.

In addition to the Title Sponsor Devon Energy, presenting sponsors to date include BancFirst, Chesapeake Energy, Chickasaw Nation, City of Oklahoma City, E.L. & Thelma Gaylord Foundation and the OKC Riverfront Redevelopment Authority.

Anyone can enter and compete in the boat parade. Boat entry forms are available online at Corporate and individual sponsorships for the Devon Energy Holiday River Parade are available. For sponsorship or event information, contact the event chairman Mike McAuliffe at (405) 231-0912 or visit
